This is a listing for a vintage, circa late 70's to mid 80's Santo Domingo necklace. Original stringing (on cotton string, not beading wire) remains secure.
Closes with a sliver bead, silver cones and hook and eye clasp. No damage to the natural high grade turquoise beads. All the beads are hand cut, drilled, rolled and polished. Necklace is 18 inches in length. And the beads do not graduate... They're all the same size, approximately 8 mm across... For a strong display of turquoise. No damaged or missing beads. The artist used tiny silver flat heishi shaped silver beads as spacers in the very center of the necklace, where it curves, so that the beads would have an even display when worn.. Not "bend" on the curve. The addition of spacers and the use of string instead of wire gives the beads a beautiful drape. Very sturdy 41 gram weight. The turquoise is from the Kingman mine in Arizona.
Rich blues with some light shades of teal green. Small amount of scattered black matrix. Rich warm shades with a wonderful aged appearance.Natural vintage heishi of high quality is a wonderful and highly wearable addition to anyone's collection of Native American jewelry.
