Old Navajo Kingman Turquoise Heishi Necklace Silver Bench Bead Finish
This is a listing for an older, circa late 80's, Navajo necklace. It's strung with hand rolled turquoise heishi from the Kingman mine. The heishi carver did an excellent job of shaping the beads for a smooth transition from bead to bead. The turquoise is a true teal green with blue undertones. I took these pictures in natural light without a flash so you can see the true color of the beads, which are medium shade of truly blended green and blue. A beautiful blend with a rich scattering of dark golden brown matrix. The necklace finishes with hand wrought silver beads and a hook and eye clasp. The artist also added a few sterling beads as spacers in the very center of the necklace to allow for an even curve. It's strung on it's original fiber cord, which is in excellent condition and the beads have acquired a dark warm aged patina. The stringing has stretched a little bit with age and the weight of the turquoise.

This always occurs with old necklaces that still have their original stringing. Sometimes the artist will use silver cones to allow for this. It's expected in an older necklace and isn't considered an issue. There are no missing or broken beads. They show the beauty of being hand formed and are a warm rich color.

The largest bead in the center is 12mm and the smallest bead is 2mm to 3mm. So you have a 9mm graduation or change in size over 12 inches, which is subtle and perfectly done. This is an elegant strand noteworthy for it's simplicity and the perfection of the workmanship.
