This is a listing for an older, circa late 80's, Navajo necklace. It's strung with hand rolled turquoise heishi from the Kingman mine. The heishi cutter did an excellent job of shaping the beads for a smooth transition from bead to bead. The turquoise is a true teal blue.... Rich saturated light, medium and dark blue with some green undertones. A beautiful rich shade of turquoise with a scattered dark brown matrix.
The necklace finishes with hand wrought silver beads and a hook and eye clasp. It's strung on it's original fiber cord, which is in excellent condition and the beads have acquired a warm aged patina. Large very high grade Mediterranean coral beads accent the center of the necklace. They have a true dark tomato orangey red color and beautiful polish.
There are no missing or broken beads. All the beads show the beauty of being hand formed and are a warm rich color. The largest turquoise bead in the center is 10mm and the smallest bead that is ground to a tapered shape is 3mm. So you have a 7mm graduation or change in size over 28 inches, which is subtle and perfectly done. Each bead is hand cut, drilled, ground and polished...A time consuming and difficult art to master. This is an elegant single strand noteworthy for it's simplicity and the perfection of the workmanship. Wear it alone for a striking accent or stack it with your other beads as part of a wonderful collection. It will arrive first class with tracking.
